2. Those Present: Pat Martin (Chair), Andy Henery and Catherine Doran (Community Youth Association), Jean Armour (St Peter and Paul's Church), Percy Mitchell (Lions Club), Cllr Graham Steele, Russell Bowie, Mike Pratt and Alan Cremer (Dartford Borough Council)

3. Notes from Last Meeting: Cllr Graham Steele pointed out that his apologies for absence from the last meeting had been omitted. With this amendment the Notes were approved.

4. Matters Arising from the Notes of the Last Meeting: Mike Pratt reported that all issues had been raised with Highways. The crossing is now in place in the High Street.

5. Swanscombe and Greenhithe Newsletter: The Christmas Issue appears to have been delivered only in the region of the High Street. It was proposed that the last issue be looked at to see if it can be renovated and re-published soon after Easter. As the Residents' Newsletter has just been delivered Cllr Graham Steele volunteered to try to organise delivery with Labour Party election material. It was agreed to try to finalise the next issue for delivery immediately after Easter. Please send any copy for inclusion to Alan Cremer by March 24th 1999.

6. Swan Valley Community School Tree-Planting Scheme: It was reported that arrangements for the scheme are now in place. Planting will take place on the afternoon of Tuesday March 30th. after the school's Achievement Assembly. Russell Bowie the Public Relations Manager Dartford Borough Council will handle the publicity. The following proposals were discussed:

• The QED banner will be prominently displayed.
• Mike Pratt will bring the electric van.
• The possibility of a temporary/permanent noticeboard or plaque could be erected in the grounds to commemorate the occasion.
• An A5 handbill as a Flyer for Swanscombe and Greenhithe QED Group, and possibly posters should be constructed. Acknowledgements should be made to NWK Countryside Project and any others that had assisted.
• As many Community Organisations as possible will be invited. Mr Ogg will be asked if he wishes to invite his "feeder" schools, and whether the new trees can somehow be introduced into some aspects of the school curriculum.
• The possibility of providing green balloons was suggested. Councillor Mrs Stock will be asked about sources of balloons and Helium gas.

7. Dog-Fouling: Catherine Doran raised the question of the intense fouling of the land on which they take small children to play. Mike Pratt stated that the land belongs to the Town Council and that prior to CYA planning any action/publicity they should liaise with Mrs. Savill.

8. Other Business:

• Mike Pratt brought to the meeting's attention the Community Orchard Day being organised in Newham. There are three places left on the Course. QED will pay the £10 fee and Mike will provide transport. Anyone interested to contact Mike as soon as possible.
• A flyer from "Going for Green" advertising the launch of their Local Environment/Biodiversity theme month was tabled. This will be held at Sedlescombe Organic Vineyard, Robertsbridge, East Sussex on April 7th.
• Literature concerning the United Nations "International Year of the Older Person" was tabled.

9. Next Meeting: The next meeting will be at 6.45 pm on Ma May 10th. 1999.
